Beautiful wooden carving of a woman ????, baby. ????tied on her front with a scarf, and
firewood ????in basket on her back. Very detailed carving of a single???? treetrunk. makers name and Zaire carved on the bottom. Must be vintage.
I would suspect this is a tourist item. Others I have seen of a woman with a baby in a sling while doing chores were called maternity figures. You should find 100's of them on eBay and the internet.
Similar items are also sold in import shops in the US as decorative items.
Thanks. It was gifted. It is actually quite large like 40 inches long.
