Bugles like this one were used by hunters as well as on mail delivering stagecoaches. As far as I know none of my ancestors were hunters, but two of them worked for postal services. One of the services used stagecoaches until 1912. So maybe one of my ancestors was allowed to take the bugle home, when it became obsolete in 1912. At least that's my theory, but I'll never know.
