This is lovely- I adore his lovely set of colours from softest coral and peach to deepest cerise and I love the fact he's actually called Rocky which is a somewhat macho and very masculine name for him to have which is kinda juxtaposing with his persona but yet adds to the greatness of him?! :D
Very nice, beautiful coloring!
Many thanks to all for the thoughtful love

Thank you so much Lauren for the perfect color description, there were so many different pretty shades I could not think of them all, like that lovely cherry pink-cerise and soft peachy coral - you are right, mostly rather feminine shades for the macho name of Rocky lol! I love the way in certain lighting you can see the rainbow carnival glass (as in photo #3) which intensifies the pretty colors. Thank you my friend for giving this guy some fabulous compliments :)
Yes Eileen this was a rather unusual and surprising find on 'rl' for me, where they very rarely have vintage animal glass. I did not know about the Guernsey Glass co and have a descriptive book about all American glass co's that I rely heavily on, it seems this Rocky fella was an early 80s staple of theirs & I was very pleased to find him, only other time I did a rocking horse was my old Coro brooch. The real antique ones are so charming, imagine how delighted a child would be riding one on Christmas morning. Love your compliments as always
Thanks keramikos for the super compliment, Rocky and I are both very grateful for your kind thoughts
MrsT thanks so much for the great praise, you are always super nice and I agree the glass coloring here is exceptional, the warm tones make this a happy "toy", he does rock back & forth like the real thing
these were originally made in clear glass for candy containers for Eikelberner &
Agadjanian. The Candy Containers Collectors of America have this one noted as E&A #651

Thank you for the E&A info TallCakes, I was told the mold later went on to Mosser Glass as well, in this size as well as a smaller version

Thank you ho2 and vcal for the love for this glass rocking horse, so glad that you enjoyed it and always grateful to you both
This reminds me of the rocking horse still in the irish castle's drawing room which is so beautiful. The reddish colour seems to propel some motion as if it had a child on it moments before. Gorgeous !~
Thanks Phil for your super praise and great visual of the castle's rocking horse, how beautiful that must be! It is nice to think of a child riding a rocking horse at the holidays, such a happy image :)
