This is another lane cedar chest made in 1942. it has been passed down three generations. Probably purchased as a wedding present from my great - great grandmother. We can see how the chest had originally been a dark red finish and then it was painted green in the sixties. The ocean was painted blue and sails were painted white in its original form (on the front emblem). It is a nice piece of furniture, and it has been in the family since new, but I would like to know it’s value and possibly what model it is. The emblem is very unique, and I don’t know if the chest was originally made with it.
To find the model and exact date it was made, look on the bottom. Hopefully, it was not painted over.
Also, online you will find info on how to get a free replacement lock/key.
It’s really important to replace the original lock because it poses an entrapment and suffocation hazard. The Lane site gives the death statistics on the original locks. The new locks are free.
I love how your cedar chest turned out!
Great job of finishing out.
