Japanese centerpiece

I bought this 23 cm high Japanese bronze centerpiece from around 1890-1910 at an auction. According to experts it shows the dragon king coming up from the sea to protect Buddhism's Dharma (law and learning), symbolized by a flaming pearl. On the third photo you can see it on the Georgian occasional table. I've never seen a centerpiece like this one before, but maybe you have ?
