I picked this up a couple of years ago with intention to have it repaired. Unfortunately never got around to it. Looked at the watch today more closely and not sure what I am looking at. The serial # is the same on the case and the dust cover 29173. The name of the maker is Vacheron Consta . I think it was placed this way to keep the same distance from the edge of the dust cover on both sides . It is hard to see but there is a trade mark (or what I think is a trade mark) diamond . I seem to remember seeing this as a very early Vacheron + Constantin trade mark . I don't remember where I found that info . Vacheron joined Constantin in 1819 and has no record of serial # below 50k . The watch is silver and missing the hands. A little push on the balance wheel and it will run 20 to 30 seconds . On the back of the dial there are names and dates the earliest 1829. Several from the 1860s maybe battle field pickup or could be jewellers marks . I would post more pictures if I could . Not saying this is a V + C but is it possible ? I apologize for the pictures ahead of time, it is the best I could do with my cell . Don't forget to zoom in for details on pictures .
