Palmetto (?) Openwork Basket w/Shell Center-Origin?

Hello - wonder if anyone can identify the origin of this basket. I know I've seen similar before and it reminds me a bit of some from the South but also calls to mind some I have seen from SE Asia? I believe the primary material is palm leaf. It measures about 11" across. Thanks in advance.
