Found this on Craigslist. One owner, desk has Necchi label on the inside and I think it is almost completely complete and it runs beautifully.

Also, has anyone seen this thread tension assembly? I cannot find another image of this tension assembly. All the rest I have seen do not have two thread hooks.

My mom had this brand of sewing machine her entire adult life and it worked beautifully.
Her Necchi machine had this same cam and bar contraption....as I recall, that system, when installed as yours is, works by controlling the width of the zig-zag and the length of the stitch.
I suggest you try/experiment each cam to see the pattern they will produce.

They don’t control the tension though.
The tension control is the round knob on the left front above the presser foot.
If you need tips on adjusting the tension, let me know.

Remove the cam and bars if you just want to sew “normally”.

It was nice to see this brand of machine...they hold up so well and their cabinets were well made.

In your assessors box, is there a “double needle”?
It looks like 2 needles stuck together side by side.
It’s for sewing a double row of stitches such as the leg seams of blue jeans.
When using the double needle, you have 2 spools of thread on top and threaded as usual.

Sorry I went into so much about the cam assemble—I misunderstood what you were questioning.

No no, thank you watchsearcher. This machine is complicated and very awesome. We have been testing many configurations with the cams. I have been looking for a tension assembly as this one is missing the front cover and that would make this machine very close to mint condition on my opinion, and I have seen none like this one. This is a keeper for sure. I do have a double needle. I paid $180 and I am very happy with that.
