    IronLace
    (930 items)

This is an interesting piece of Peloton glass, unlike any others I have.
I feel that it might possibly date from the 1920s - 30s era.
Made from two layers of cased glass - clear over multi coloured threads, with a white interior, it has an applied black finial, which has the appearance of a fruit or vegetable stalk.
It measures around 10 cm tall to the top of the stalk, & around 9.5 cm across the widest part of the middle.
The Peloton threads have been completely integrated into the body of the item. Peloton glass varies quite a bit in terms of the texture of the applied threads (or in this case, lack of texture). I also do not have any items with this same colour range, which varies widely from pastel mauve, blue, green & yellow, to dark ruby red, orange & purple.
Czech origin I think (or Bohemian if it's from earlier on).

Very nice glass Czech box, I think it is by Kralik, another member had one in what I call the quadrille and spatter decor.

I love to see this kind of peloton as it reflects the name much more accurately, as peloton means a yarn ball, or skein. The colors are lovely. Thanks for posting.

IronLace, you will not be surprised to hear that I adore your lidded bowl, both its shape and its décor. Unusual and very pretty!

truthordare, whilst you are always taking the high ground on using photos only with the owner's permission I note you didn't do that here.
As the member who owns both the photo and the piece of glass in your link I have to say that I don't think it is by Kralik. As far as I'm aware there is no evidence to link that décor to Kralik. That said the finial is the same on both pieces for what it's worth!

Since my behavior is put under the microscope again here on CW, seems I have to explain there is a world of difference between 'posting' someone else's images in a show & tell format, and then discussing it, and instead giving a site link in a comment to an image somebody allowed you to use several years ago.

I received 5 thousand glass images from Jericho, and I am aware that Gary had one of these too back then for sale, so not sure which is which, but that is how it came into my possession.

If you want to discuss things in more detail Peggy, contact me.

As has been done by many with informative sites, it's the fair use copyright law, when you do not benefit financially from this approach. Such as all the images posted on kralik-glass dot com and so on. If the comment is unwelcome, please delete it. Make no difference to me.

Oh dearie me, what a frightful kerfuffle has broken out about my little jar...
Anyway, thanks to all who've loved it!

Many thanks for your thoughts, renedijkstra.
As I have a lot of Peloton glass of different types in my collection, it appears that it was made over quite a long period by a variety of makers. There are many variations on the theme...

I love some peloton glass IL, and despite the kerfuffle this caused, this is fab! I really dig a covered bowl and this is such a great shape and the finial is perfect.
A very special bit of fruit :)

Many thanks, racer, yes I enjoy a nice covered bowl too, they are always a such charming little treat to find. Luckily this one was found in Australia as well, so no high postage cost to take the gloss off it!
It sure is a fab little fruit, whatever it is...a pelotonapple, perhaps? :-)
