Something fancy for all the fanciful folks out there in CW land...a fantastical Victorian ruby glass vase with two hanging baskets.
These items are very rare, & so when I spotted this one at the monthly antiques fair a few weeks ago, I jumped at the opportunity.
Made from ruby glass, it has clear applied handles, as well as an applied daisy head pattern rigaree with downward facing "leaves" encircling the top rim, & a half - daisy head footed base. The vase measures around 24 cm tall.
The two hanging baskets are made from ruby glass with clear applied handles & daisy head rigarees.
What I particularly love about this piece is that it looks almost alive, like some kind of curiously anthropomorphic plant/animal hybrid...
    Possibly of English origin.

A bit sophisticated but in the Victorian spirit which we like.

That my friend is an example of very special art glass. How in the world did it survive this long without damage to those delicate looking parts? At least it's in the right hands now. It's absolutely beautiful and congratulations.

Both beautiful and fascinating, a wonderful find! As to being anthropomorphic, I see the milkmaid or a water carrier......

I would love to see the bases of the pieces. If you'd like avoid spoiling your post you might prefer to send an image to my email. Or not at all as the case maybe :)
