Hello, I was wondering if I could possibly get any information about the type, age, or even a possible purpose of this knife. The total length of the knife is about 10" and the blade itself is 5". The blade is magnetic and I believe that it is made out of iron due to the pitting present on it. I believe that the metal parts of the handle are made of lead? They do not seem to be magnetic and are a lot more heavier than any other parts of the knife (I could be wrong about the material though). the "lead" parts of the handle also have similar a pitting pattern to some other pre 18th century knives that I've seen based on my research. Based on the condition and the age of the wood I am guessing that the knife is at LEAST a century old based on how it has aged.
I know that it is a stretch to ask, but does anyone have any possible idea of the age, type and/or the purpose of the knife that they are willing to share? It would be greatly appreciated if so.
The total length of the knife is 10" (handle+ blade). The blade itself is about 5". And that does make a lot of sense! Would there be a way of determining the age however? since the blade itself is made out of iron and seems to be very aged based on the pitting on the blade and the handle.
