These are my moms. She got them from a friend who was a big antique collector. I’ve been researching them but have never found any info on them. My mom said she was told they were used in the train stations for the desk workers but that’s all she knows. Just the top leans back. The four legs are stationary. I saw a post on here with cane chairs that do the same thing. That’s what made me make an account. Thank you in advance for the help.

      Hi Mandy-Jo,

I was researching a very similar chair and happen onto your post and a previous one on this type of chair (you reference it in your comment). That person called it a 1890's captain chair. I like that your mother told you the use.

My chair is almost exactly the same (barrel caned back with center support, cane seat, ornate carve apron in the same patter, turned legs); the only difference I can see is that mine has multiple supports between the bottom of the back and the seat frame instead of just the one center support.

I am an antique dealer and welcome any information on this piece as I have found nothing else about them.
