    My uncle has had this in the shed. It is quite large and he thinks it is an old oil lamp used as a headlight for a train. I would love any information on it.

      Its a common lantern. I doubt it was ever used as a RR headlight. I could have been used on a RR. Not regular issue.

      This is a number 60 beacon searchlight that was made by dietz circa 1892/ used as a working lantern my many groups as in const./ as well as in fresh water areas as a work light as on a bardge/ john kruesel/ CT Ham also made one like this/ tyhey were the largest made as a beacon/ they are the best as a burning lantern!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
