This piece measures 10.75" long, 9.5" at widest, 2" high. Bought on ebay advertised as "Jan Beranek Bohemian Glass Centerpiece" and as "NO chips, cracks, scratches or repairs". Before buying it I searched and found several similar pieces with same or similar attributions. I did not pay much for it. Within the first minute of examining it after it arrived, I found the first scratch/chip combination and stopped counting scratches on top at four and three on the underside, not the base. I expected some scratches on the base. None of this damage showed in the seller's images due to poor resolution and some blurred images. I have to think the sellers must be elderly folks with poor eyesight, but can't explain why they couldn't feel the scratches. Anyway, they quickly refunded my money and told me to "trash it". Well, I am not going to use it for target practice or throw it away, but donate it to Goodwill or maybe to another more upscale local thrift shop. IMHO, it is not old enough or rare enough for a collector to overlook this damage, but no reason why someone else (not me) can't just use it for decorative purposes. So, it is going with me on my next thrift shop run. I would appreciate opinions on maker and age.
Not sure at all about the Beranek attribution .... I’d have said Japanese.
Thanks, Kevin! Hopefully, Karen will eventually chime in!

Thank you Findings, Jenni and fortapache!
Thank you aura!
Thank you Nicefice and philmac51!
Its kinda pretty anyways...I'd prolly buy that from Goodwill for a few bucks...? <lol>
Thanks AnythingObscure... If I had found it at Goodwill I might have bought it as a research opportunity. I tend to not buy stuff that is damaged, unless it is an older piece which I would expect to show some wear.
