Received this doll as a gift almost 50 years ago. Just wanted to know if anyone recognized the maker. There are no identifiying markers on the doll. I would like to get her refurbished and wanted to know if it was worth it. My mother i law thinks she's from the 1940's. Thank you.

Hi Your doll is a Madame Alexander Winnie Walker doll . They were not marked and date from the early 1950's . Yes she is worth saving , To bad wig is in such poor shape but do not buy a new synthetic one it will not be appropriate for her . Maybe you could work hair to cover bald area . She may be in her original dress . Did you look at inside on back of dress for a label . She has the Madame Alex Cissy face .

Thank you! Her hair is in bad shape because my older sister cut it a few times (when she was much younger.)

Not uncommon for dolls to be given haircuts by kids , The girl would get a haircut and then she would cut her dolls too :-) I would try and find a older wig . You can soak dress in Oxiclean . Don't wring it out roll in a towel to squeeze out water and let air dry flat. It will last longer if you clean it . She has beautiful face paint still so really all she needs is a wig or get her hat :-)

Hi Mani!! Hi Starfish! I've had several MA Walkers and all of them were marked "Alexander" on the back of her neck under the wig. Have you checked there?
