This small handkerchief vase is about 6.25" high x about 6" in diameter, with label. Guessing that the patent number on the label may be an indication of the production date. The bottom is smooth, with no sign of a pontil, perhaps made in a mold and swung to attain the desired shape. There are quite a few bubbles in this piece.
This is Iwata studio glass, so could have been made by any one of a number of different Iwata artists. There is a yellowed piece of paper glued to the back with a number on it, possibly from an estate auction, second hand store inventory or a collector's catalog number. I will leave it as part of the history of this vase and do any cleaning with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel, when needed.
I got lucky on this one as the seller was asking a realistic price for a small piece of Iwata studio glass. It is attractive, but not a really remarkable piece and it is easy to imagine that there is a lot of un-labled Iwata glass out there which will never be proved to be by this maker.
Gorgeous vase & lovely swirl pink pattern
Thanks for your comment Jenni!

Thank you artfoot and Broochman!
You got one, and it's great!
Pink was such a favourite of Iwata.
This is a Toshichi Iwata design, and probably 1950s, maybe 60s.
Thanks for your comment and information, Karen! Hopefully it will not be rare thing to find one for a reasonable price, but I am not holding my breath!
