    SkeeterVMA…
    (1 item)

Just purchased from a local individual. Would anyone happen to know anything about this piece? Age, manufacturer, etc..... It's not important to me because I have no intentions of selling it, but maybe a guess at what the value might be? is it rare, somewhat rare, or are the very common. I know nothing about it and any help is appreciated. Thanks

It is pure deco. Probably dates from the late 1930s-- into the 40s.

May want to check the back and drawers for any maker information.

      I wouldn't consider these rare.

Value is dependent on condition (one photo doesn't show details), maker (I am not familiar with the desirable makers from the era-- would research if you pin down a name) and location.

In my area (TN) most of these are in the $300- $600 range. Yours may fall out of that range depending on the factors mentioned.

This style is found in the major catalogs such as Sears and Eaton's from the late 20's to 40's in particular. Very nice, not especially rare, but some nicer details than a lot of them. I like doing these kind of pictures with them :

      Check this out!
It looks like the original owner of Bassett Furniture might have signed the back side of the vanity.
It is upside down but it looks like, "J.D. Bassett #1129" that's pretty interesting.
John David Bassett (July 14, 1866- February 26, 1965) was a noted American industrialist who formed the Bassett Furniture Company in 1902.

It is also stenciled JD1 with the model "1120 Van" for vanity.
How fun, I think that it is a Model 1120 Bassett Vanity that was somehow signed by the founder of Bassett Furniture John David Bassett. That should help a little in your research.

I am seeing a connection when I Googled, "1920's art deco Waterfall Bassett Furniture"
