This clock was awarded by "R F Young on June 30, 1936 for No. of Used Cars Over 30 days", the recipient is not named on the plaque. I am told that the "No" on the inscription should actually be "No." (for Number) by the vendor/owner of the clock, The clock originally sold for $67.50, counting for inflation the same slock would sell for $1,249.03 today,
The ad states that
"FC7700 THE JUPITER -----------------------------------$67.50
An impressive desk set for the business executive, Ideal as a presentation gift or testimonial award. Clock case and base are made of solid bronze in a richly polished statuary finish. Comes complete with Vacumatic Pen and Pencil, length l3 Inches. Height 4 3/4 inches, Depth 6 inches."
I have never seen a bronze Jupiter, this Marbleized Plasticon case model is the only one I have ever seen. The clock and desk set were design by Peter Muller-Munk, the clock case is flanked by a Marbleized Parker fountain pen and pencil. The movement is an original open movement, the clock cord has been replaced.
