Elisabethan

This is a lovely victorian silver brooch. It is in the shape of a buckle and has nice engravings and banded agate details. The size is 4 x 5 cm.
The age, design, engraving and the banded agate tells me this piece is most likely scottish, so it will be a nice addition to my very small scottish collection. I should post a group photo of those another day.
I like the mix of romantic details against the more elegant and almost masculine look of the buckle. What do you think?
Perfectly stated: masculine and elegant contrast.
This is wonderful Elisabethan!
Gorgeous buckle with lovely design
This is a very unusual design. I love the counter compliments of the oval base and curved agate detail. Really lovely example. Kudos.
Thanks every CW friend for nice coments! Will answers soon. Bedtime here in Sweden now......
Thank you racer4you and Valentino! I am glad you also like the balance of that. Makes me feel I was right to buy it. It was a little bit more expensive than I usualy let it ve since I always try to find auctions with less competition so the price will be modest. But this I really wanted and it was still a good price for a victorian scottish buckle brooch.
Thank you Ms.ChrystalShip! I also love the engravings and they were popular at the time. The brooch has a tube hinge and a catch as simple at a c-catch but broader and I think they are called tube-catch not to be mistaken for trombone-catch that came later. And yes the long needle tells you it has age. Plenty of room for lots of fabric. I will be using it today when I go into town to do some shopping.
Newfld for nice coment!
Plein-air-painter thank you very much! I am glad you say it is an unusual design because I think so too. I haven't been able to find a similar one yet. There are buckle brooches around but I haven't seen this design. It has some nice details that blend well together.
Nicefice thank you!
Thank you everyone for loving my post!
