How big is it medicoirfan?? Just wondering if it might actually be a sort of 'incenser' (now missing its lid?) as sometimes found in 'old school' churches...??

I have one like this out in the shop but mine has a lid with a fancy finial. I am sure mine is or was an incense burner. I keep screws and tacks in it.

Well, it is too big for an incense burner. It is 10 inches in diameter with a height of 4.5 inches.
Not so sure about its use.
Thank u for your comments 'anythingobscure' and 'fhrjr2'
