COMPLIMENTS OF THE SEASON - DUTCH ANTIQUE ETCHING

The old fashioned skating scenes make me smile on this old etching. People in the remote villages of Nova Scotia (Eastern Canada) still skated with these very long attached curled skates, and they had traditional couples floating round and round, arm in arm, on the ice to music.

It was like a dance, the man would ask the woman to join him for a twirl, all very pleasant and quaint.
