This is from a a small to mid-sized sawfish. This saw is a foot long and as Sawfish can be 10-20 feet long it is not the biggest.
For a quick background on swordfish they are related to skates and rays and to a much lesser degree sharks. They tend to sit on the ocean floor but will also swim about. I saw one at the Long Beach aquarium, it was pretty neat.
The first view is the underside of the saw. It has two small holes which were probably used to display it. I couldn't match up the holes so I hung it from the teeth. I think I may move it up to above the seashell display case next to the pelican skull.

Your brother caught one big fish.
Very cool find! Always wanted to find the sword off of a swordfish and can’t figure out what happens to all of them as a lot of swordfish get caught and eaten but few get taxidermy. Where do all the swords go?
Thank you very much rattletrap. Good question. This one went home with me.
