Vintage/Antique Etched Crystal Vase

This vase set on my friends Grandmother's mantel for as long as we can both remember. I was so excited when he gave it to me but I can't figure out the brand or age. He seems to think its pre 40's and it looks wheel etched? The vase is extremely heavy and about 8" tall. The extreme detail looked to me like it might be Waterford but I don't have a clue. It is stunning and very intricate. It looks like etchings over etchings. Any ideas?
