Interesting piece. Many of the Mayan items that come out of Mexico during that era were actually made in Central America, Guatemala especially. They were funneled through Mexico and either sold there or moved north into the USA and sold. I have had good luck with the appraisal link at the top of the page getting help in identifying Mayan items I have. While it cost me a few bucks the information and value they provided was well worth it.

The Mayan's migrated into southern Mexico therefore it is quite possible it is Mayan but actually made in Mexico. In that it doesn't have a COO mark is also an interesting fact.
