This Blue Mountain Set is likely intended for one. All items are marked in the clay. It includes the Blue Mountain Pottery 50th Anniversary Tray.
Blue Mountain Pottery was a Canadian company, operating in Ontario from 1953 to 2004. The distinctive glazing the company used is appropriately termed “reflowing decorating” or “flow glaze” technique. To create the distinctive glaze, two different colours were applied with knowledge that they would run during firing, and create what we colloquially call Blue Mountain Glaze.
This set has no chips, cracks crazing. The glaze is rich, even and luminous. The almost perfect match of all pieces could lead a collector to conclude these were almost definitely painted and fired together. The 5-piece set came to me as one.
The tray is 12” round.
Thank you, Eileen. I do like the Blue Mountain sets. They have a weight I prefer in the morning — for the few I actually use.
Thanks for the Love:
