Here is a late period vase by Loetz in a smoky amethyst color with contrasting brilliant opal paddle-type handles. The color is very subtle- compare in the last two photos to another piece in brillantopal. Dates to the mid 1930s - the brillantopal piece has the square "Made in Czecho-Slovakia" mark; the smokey amethyst vase is unmarked.
Great color. It appears almost a Muranese opal.
Cantz says : Ausführung 1: brillantopal mit breiter opaker brillantopal Henkel - Auflage.
My guess is that the British firm was Liberty’s with their foreign agent being Ernst Oscar Hornsleth A/S whose store was in Kongensgade, 81, Copenhagen.
Fantastic! What a coincidence, I was just looking for an example of smoky amethyst as I believe I have a Loetz shade in that color.
