I got this from an attic cleanout a few years ago(3 floors up in the dead of summer) I have no clue what it came off of.It looks like it mounted to something cylindrical and was meant to hold something in its mouth.Any help would be appreciated!

I never thought of that.I was thinking it possibly hung on a flag pole or something similar.

I think what you have is 1 of four, they came off of a fancy parlor table. The type with the claw and ball feet. The mouth would hold the shelf and the other end would attach to the legs. I have seen 2 or three of these type of tables, over 35 years.
