My greater uncle was a clock collector in Newport News, VA. I inherited this when his wife passed several years ago, as he had passed in 2005. I’ve been googling and think this may be a Ansonia. I’ve checked the inside and it is labeled Anosnia NEW YORK with a June 14 patent date from 1880s. It also had this inscription on the back that I couldn’t make sense of.

Does anyone know what model this might be? I always want to clean it well and keep it working but am pretty ignorant on the subject. Any suggestions?

You have an Ansonia Enameled Iron Mantel Clock named the "Como" from circa 1886. For questions regarding cleaning and maintenance I would suggest that you go to the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Message Board. Here's a link: https://mb.nawcc.org/ . Good luck and thanks for sharing your heirloom. I've never seen one of these before.
