This bowl is about 11" in diameter x 5.5" high. This was a $4.32 GW find today. Made by Humppila of Finland and is their Revontulet ("Fox Fires" / Northern Lights) icicle bowl. It was designed by Tauno Wirkkala and made in a centrifugal mold. The exterior is rough and uneven and the interior is highly polished. The bottom is finished in sort of a reed mat image or maybe a school of swimming fish. It is a fairly heavy bowl, but I have not weighed it yet. Reading suggests that it was molded and then hand finished. Like new, as far as I can see, no bottom wear, no label.

This was an especially sweet find as it was found at a GW I have not been to in months and all of their glass was incredibly overpriced for a GW. It was more like boutique prices, even on some things which were damaged. The exception was one shelf with a mix of interesting and run of the mill stuff. Coincidentally, I was looking at bowls like this on ebay a few weeks ago, as I have been looking for some unlabeled Hoya glass so have been familiarizing myself with their work and one of these was mixed in with the Hoya glass. Hoya did some icicle themed works. When I found it, I thought it might Hoya.
Thank you for loving my Finnish glass bowl!
