This is approx 11" tall. Paint is faded. It was fished out of the water while my father served in the Pacific during WW2. I would like info on identifying this.

Not a buddha. The god is holding a gold nugget suggesting he is one the several gods of wealth. You can see traces of gold applique gilding on his body. These types of sacred sculptures are usually found in Southern China from Taiwan to Hong Kong.
I'm trying to identify the type of woods used in these pieces. Does anyone know about this?
