    IronLace
    (929 items)

At the close of 2014, I embarked upon de - accessioning part of my very large & somewhat disorderly collection of glass. I'd found myself looking around at it, & feeling overwhelmed (well, in retrospect it was other issues, far more significant than a surplus of glass that were responsible for me feeling that way). So, I started selling. Most of what I sold was glass from the 20th century, but I also ended up flogging some of my 19th century pieces too, probably because I got carried away, as well as needing the extra cash.
In the process, I let go a few things that I'd really have rather held onto. But who knows, I might be able to find replacements, just like I did for the first item pictured here, a Harrach Eisglas goblet with a blue applied snake. Through some kind of remarkable luck, I found another one last Saturday.
Next comes a Pallme Koenig (I think) squat iridescent vase with trailed decoration. I'd got this cheaply at a flea market, & it had some losses to the trailing. At the time I didn't have much Art Nouveau glass in my collection, & it didn't really fit in so well as it would now. I'd like another one, & have a couple like it on my watchlist, but they sure aren't cheap!
Thirdly - this was a huge & stunning satin glass vase with coralene decoration. It was marked with what was known as the "propeller", which we now know to be three plumes. I really did take leave of my senses with this one.
Fourth, a cute little Welz vase (it's feet were a tad chipped). Probably not so hard to replace, but why did I get rid of it in the first place?
Anyway, I console myself by hoping that all of them have gone on to enrich the lives & collections of their new owners.
Nonetheless, I am somewhat more circumspect these days when it comes to what I decide to sell...

Yes, so true, valentino97...one's collection is just as subject to the vicissitudes of life as anything else. You live & learn, I guess! :-)

I'm pretty sure the top right piece with an applied green rim is Kralik. The Harrach vases with reptiles and amphibians are mega-fantabulous. I saw two at the Karkonoskie Museum last October that would "blow your mind" (to paraphrase David Bowie). See my post of 18/12/19 on Facebook in the group 'Jugendstil Glas'.

Many thanks, Bambus1920...though I admit that for a variety of reasons I do not use Facebook...

Update on item number 2 pictured here - I have just acquired another one, thanks to a fortuitous sale of some vintage glass buttons, which enabled me to fund the purchase. So the replacement will be coming soon...
