This brooch is unmarked and I don't think it is silver. I bought it because of the wonderful details. It appears to me that every little twisted wire ring, every little rosette, every half sphere has been individually applied.
The brooch features also four small glass cabochons. I believe that they could be Hubbell glass.
The trombone closure has been around for more than a hundred years, but because it was also used for along time it is not easy to date the brooch based on the closure alone.
I have checked out traditional Dutch jewellery but didn't find a match. I am going to check out Scandinavian brooches next and move south from there if it doesn't lead any results.
Thanks for looking:)
Thanks very much for loving my brooch, vetraio50:)
Many thanks for the love, plein-air-painter :)

Thanks so much for stopping by: Watchsearcher and Brunswick :)
Wow,that’s so cool. It has such an amazing amount of work in it, and so attractive!
Could it be pewter?
Mr.Crystalship, thanks for your comment. I usually like pieces with clean lines but this one got my attention. Isn't it amazing how many little pieces have been applied to this brooch? The 30's were on my mind, too. I wish, I knew more.
Racer4four, thanks so much for your comment. Yes, the work that went into making this brooch is incredible. I don't think, though, that it is pewter. If it was, it probably would be heavier and not as shiny (I polished part of the back and it became really shiny). I think it could be some sort of alloy like alpaca. I hope that I will find out what it is and where it came from.
Hi doll! This is a bit hard to date with those type of clasps/closures. Could be India, Turkish, Egypt... the stones probably are turquoise. See if a magnet sticks to it.
Wow, nobody has called me doll in a long while! Love it, LOL!
Shareurpassion, I tried the magnet but the brooch is not magnetic. It certainly has an "ethnic" feel. I will check out your suggestions.
Thanks a lot,
Gudrun
