The lid fit it well until i filled the crack in it. Now i can't get it in. i guess it's time to break out the steel wool and wear down the inside a bit.

Find someone with a lathe and a three jaw chuck and they can pare it down in a couple minutes. Otherwise you gotta clean the crack out, get some animal hide resin glue and an automotive radiator hose type clamp and start over.

fhrjr2 has got it spot on towards the ultimate fix. :-) If it only now binds in a small spot or two maybe a little careful bit of hand filing would work too, but "steel wool" is definitely not the right way to go about it... <nono> :-) :-) :-)
