Hard to believe story, a friendly cloisonne collector mailed me this damaged but great quality piece, with an unusual motif of a weedy nature scene. from late 19th century, Meiji reign period.
The point was I was going to fix it and admire it. The easy part was finding a new screw for the ball lid finial. The three feet had a bronze point end, could not replace those. The arms of the coro or box, were also not possible to fix and re-apply properly, and the losses of wired enamel surface stayed that way.
Becaus it was such an intricate antique piece, I decided to try and sell it 'asis'. With no great expectations. Well it worked, to my disbelief, you never know.....
It's a very beautiful piece, the enamel design is lovely even unrestored. Congrats of finding an appreciative buyer
Yeah I love that weedy scene, so unusual.
Nice job Lisa!
Thank you Jenni and Karen, of course I concur with your fine comments.
