Knob top basket with a birch base and possibly devils claw. 11”high 9” wide. Possibly Papago. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Not Papago or Native American, nor made from birch or devil's claw.

This is actually from the Philippines, made by the Iraya-Mangyan, the indigenous people of Mindoro Island. The material it is made from is nito, a vine native to the Philippines.

If you'd like a reference to confirm, see the book "Philippine Basketry" by Robert F. Lane, or this link: http://www.mangyanblogger.com/2013/10/iraya-mangyans-preserve-traditions-thru.html

Thanks for the info. I’ll check it out. I was given that information from the seller. I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to confirm.
