    Hello everybody!
First- SORRY- i'm from Germany... my English might be better!
So I bought this trunk last week and on research to find out what I bought (it's my first trunk) I saw a trunk with the same "S" and a lot of information in the comments below. I decided to show you my trunk and hope that anyone can tell me somethink of this beauty.
Thankful for any ideas and hints!

Here are some patents that apply to your cross slat trunk: They were made by the thousands.Always remember that it can't be older than the most recent patent date.Popular hardware was produced for a few decades after the patent date.without a makers label it is hard to say who definitively made the trunk.

That's embossed tin or sheet steel popular in the 1880s to around 1916 or so. (A flower pattern possibly ,morning glory or pansy)Hope this helps. Thanks for the post.

Drill is always very helpful with all the patent dates, thanks Drill, your trunk is from around the mid 1880's give or take a bit, the S on the hardware I believe is by J.H. Sessions, this was a very common trunk made by many trunk makers at the time without a trunk label hard to say who the maker was, hope this helps.
