The one pictured on the left (w/ 'diamond pattern') I've had for years, and could have sworn I've shown here before already but after looking back just now I don't find it. <headdesk>

The one on the right just came home with me today from the assorted kitchen utensils bin at Goodwill. When I picked it up I said to myself "I know I've already got one of these...but for a buckish, why not have two??" <lolol> so I dropped it in my basket anyway.

The FUNFUN part didn't happen until I got it home and was taking it out of the bag. Glancing over at the other one (already hanging 'on display' on my utensil rack in the kitchen) I immediately realized that this one is *not* just a 2nd one of the same -- this one has a square pattern to its grater surface while the one I already had has a diamond pattern to it. TOO COOL!!! :-) :-) :-)

The 'ferrules' on each bear identical stampings with a nifty ACME logo at the top, reading "THE ONLY GENUINE SAFETY GRATER PAT'D & MADE IN U.S.A.".

Google Pics seems to suggest the 'square pattern' ones are more common, I don't know what to think about that. Meanwhiles, it seems they were a general product of the 1950's or so...?

THANKS BUNCHES to blunderbuss2, fortapache, Watchsearcher, kwqd, Newfld, Brunswick, Nicefice, officialfuel, iggy, & vetraio50 for stopping by with the <love it>s!! Hopefully y'all are also enjoying my surprise to learn there were actually *two* versions of these gadgets made?!!

Now I suppose I should really go see if there's anything laying around in my fridge that needs to be freshly 'grated', in order to find out if either one really works better than the other...?? <smile><giggle>
