    Need help identifying possible age origin of this sword, it is a friends handed down from her great grandfather is all the information we have, it has always had the black tape wrapped around the handle as long as she has had it, I'm guess there are remains of a wooden handle under the tape but didn't remove the tape to confirm this, it has no scabbard or anything with it

      The length of the blade is 25 inches and overall length of 31 and a half inches, her family is from South Eastern Virginia no idea if this was crafted locally or not
