This ashtray is 4.75" in diameter and 2" high. It has its original label. It is fairly thin glass. This is the only example that I could find of a kiriko ashtray or other item by Sanyu, or Narumi. If not labeled, it would probably be identified as Bohemian. I did find a similarly shaped ashtray in blue, but the design of the glass relieve was different and it was just labeled "Made in Japan". I found many examples of free form Sanyu ashtrays. At least, I think this is kiriko glass. I have never cared much for kiriko glass so have not studied it to any extent. If this is kiriko, I think this might be an example of Satsuma versus Edo kiriko glass as the colored glass layer seems pretty thick. Maybe Karen can provide some input!

Thanks Ms.CrystalShip! I agree, no ashes will live in this bowl and I don't think it has ever been used for that purpose.
