    This container has been handed down for at least 3 generations. Inside is an old recipe for cough syrup made from violets. Sat on my mother's dresser for years.
    Be curious to know if anyone has ever seen one. Not quite sure what it is called

      I believe this is called an opaline dresser box, it appears to have a partial silk lining, these were often made by the CF Monroe co around the turn of the last century. Check underside for a mark, they had several division names including Wavecrest and Nakara.

      Thank you, no marks but just realized that one of the pieces of paper, dated 1963, was a short article about opal or opaline glassware. Appreciate the info!
