I bought an antique walking stick that appears to be from the Rococo period. A friend of mine who is an antique dealer said it is from around 1750/60.
However, he also said it is not the best quality of rococo walking sticks ...
Even this seems to be not the best quality, I'm still happy about the piece.
I then realized that the decoration with the colored stones on one of the decorative rings did not originally belongs to the walking stick. Apparently it is a ring with three stones in green violet and blue. As you can see, the stones are pretty battered.
I honestly do not know if they are precious stones or glass stones. But the central amethyst colored stone has two holes that look wanted.
What could these holes be used for? I also wonder how long the ring has been on the walking stick?
Is it also a piece from 1750/60? A lot younger? Or even Older?
It is worked very simply and it is very thin walled.
Does anybody knows how old this might be? And what are the drilled holes for?
