There is so much going on with this piece, it's hard to know where to start. The ground is green spreading to clear. The body is rib optic (8 part). A resist with abstract coral-like motifs was applied, then enamel reduction technique similar to that used by Boudnik and Carl Goldberg. Finally, enamel painting that interacts with the inset resist decoration was applied. Signed in gold by the Director of the Glassmaking School in Haida from 1907 through 1929, Heinrich Strehblow. Original paper label on the bottom. It's very faded, but with black light illumination, I was able to get the ink to stand out from the paper - it looks like a shape/decor designation, possibly "K.283/6271". All the stops were pulled out on this one, from the decoration, to the finely beveled and polished base and rim. I'm still researching its significance, but I think it's an important piece. 11.75" tall.
I bet holding it in your hands you can really see all the detail ..nice write up ..
Congratulations. Amazing piece.
Very, very beautiful vase! There is actually a book, from 2022, about Dir. Heinrich Strehblow.
