This ashtray is 5.75" in diameter and about 3" high. It is thick glass with no maker's mark. The design seems to be enhanced with enamel (vitreous enamel?). It might be just old enough to have been made as part of the Egyptian Revival period that ended in 1930. Couldn't resist. I have not seen one like it before.
Thanks for loving my Egyptian Revival ashtray AnythingObscure, jscott0363, Vynil33rpm and Nicefice!
Oh YES Kevin, what a lovely chunk of purplish glass that is no matter its origin or age -- I'd have most definitely grabbed it up at first glance somewheres too, without much of a 2nd thought?!!!
BTW, what's all that sorta seen thru its bottom in your 4th pic...almost looks like things outside your window are still buried in that cold dreary 'white stuff' up wherever you are...?? ;-)
The snow has melted in the past few days. I think it will be in the 40s here tomorrow...
It was -2 degrees Fahrenheit a few days ago....
Dunno if you'll wanna hear this Kevin, but my tiny patch of springtime daffodils in the backyard have been blooming for a week or so now already...other general springtime green things starting to pop up around the rest of the yard too...we're supposed to be back near 70's again tomorrow I think...?? ;-) :-) :-)
D'oh! It will be probably 4-6 weeks before I see green that is not evergreen..... I like Winter, though....
Thanks for loving my amethyst ashtray Broochman, Thomas, Jenni, PhilDMorris, fortapache and Kevin!
