One more scavenged from 'somebody else's house clean out" because, simply, he intrigues me. <giggle> Standing about 28" tall, this guy seems to me to represent an African man with long hair and his drum leaning against something -- although the only marking on it (pic 4) reads "MEXICO". He's obviously had kinda a rough life, with lots of bumps and chips and abrasions to his surface, but he doesn't really look like he's actually *lost* any of his parts, maybe but for a toe or two. ;-) :-)
I'm pretty sure this is what'd be termed "chalkware" -- please somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I'll also HAPPILY accept anybody's advice on what I should *do* with him, at least in terms of "leave as is" vs. "try to restore". Also if anyone has any suggestions on a potential age for it...I'd guess 1970's-80's but don't have any real clue about that either.
HOPE Y'ALL ENJOY HIM! (and now where am I gonna *put* him in here...he's currently standing guard on my porch steps, but I'm (also) guessing a semi-exterior environment prolly isn't so good for items like this...??
THANK YOUS to bobby725, Brunswick, Newfld, fortapache, and vetraio50 for also apparently sharing my interest in this guy and his drum!! I still can't say why for certain, but I still just find him interesting/fun on some weird level...go figure. Mebbe it's just the 'found for free' part...if I saw him in a junk store I might or might not look twice I suppose, nor even begin to think of forking over $ to buy him -- but that wasn't the case here now, was it...?? <LOLOL>
