I think this is a lovely décor and none the worse for appearing on a basket. In fact all in all the complex shape and the straight ish lines are quite eye boggling!

What a great basket!! That is, if one were to actually like them.... wink wink.... :-)
Malkey, thanks for your take on it. Someone else saw a 'weird' under sea creature'. Me, I'm happy its on my shelf......
Take care, Peggy
Sometimes, welzebub, weak creature that I am, I just have to accept my own failings :)
Beautiful colors:)
Thank you Trey. The base shows a well known Welz spatter.....goodness knows how a spatter was turned into those fine stripes.
BEAUTIFUL Welz!! I love it.

Thank you, scott, for agreeing with me so often!
When I bought my welz shoe grouping, they had a shoe in this decor. Unfortunately it had a large hole in the top of the foot and I just couldn't bring myself to buy it.
Kind of wish that I had purchased-- it would look great in a side photograph sitting next to your basket.
Maybe they will still have it next time I go to that shop....

Do you know a cobbler, of the glass variety?
Only wish!

I agree this is a great decor - and not seen too often. I love it. Now.....if we could just get rid of the frilly top and the thorny handle....lol!
That is simply gorgeous.
Oh dear, heresy, Wow 22. Whatever next!!! Actually it would make quite a nice bowl without the handle :)
Glad you think so, Karen. Perhaps we all have an inner girlie waiting to break out......
This is one of the nicest baskets I've ever seen...& I say that as a proud & self - confessed "basket case". Although this wonderful decor would look great on any item! It has a festive sort of character that suggests coloured streamers & boiled sweets...& the basket's trefoil top rim is rather unusual. I imagine this being spun around at high speed somehow to achieve that striated effect that is between trailing & spatter?
I also had a geological association but geological strata aren't so joyful :)
IronLace, I have nothing against baskets but they often take up a lot of space. However some are worth it!
Hi Iwona, the basket is joyful because it doesn't have to contend with the mud and cold of real geological strata!
