I came across this vintage Murano glass light shade at a local charity shop. I found the pattern especially appealing - a spiral, swirl in white and amber - almost hypnotic bringing to mind the staircases of M.C. Escher. My best guess is Murano from mid-century but I'm a novice so most interested in the views of collectors. It has a grove inside for the fitting; it measures about 6" tall. The lighting was less than ideal so I included a photo with light shining through. I have located a similar example, though less refined, which was identified as "new" so my feeling is this must be a popular enough design to result in reproduction. Welcome any/all comments. Thanks
I found 2 more narrow shades just like this, but they're not uniform, obviously hand made. Have been interested in knowing more about them. They are expert work, murano? I don't know. I'm pretty well versed in Murano work, and while the skill is there, amazing skill, it's not really anything like I've seen from Murano. I'm glad to see this. I've had these for years and have never found anything on them. Just that I know the work on them had to be extremely skilled.
