Sure there’s a lot of carpet sweepers out there
But this champion carpet sweeper
Is also a sundial, used to usher in
the age of enlightenment

I have one (newer, 1960's?) of these, the "Handy" by "Wagner of Milwaukee". I should take a couple pics and show that thing one of these days...?? ;-) :-)
It is indeed a handy thing to pick up cat hair and other little 'chunks' of stuff that land on top of the carpet -- but as one who used to sell real vacuum cleaners (very expen$ive ones, BTW, which perform up to their price tag$) door to door -- I can prove to you in an instant that these little things only brush the 'chunks/hair/visible stuff' offa the surface of your rug. All the truly destructive (and quite a bit more 'foul' in nature) grit, dust, mites, etc) don't get picked up and removed by these at all, instead getting very efficiently buried down deep into the rug fiber/backing itself. True you can't generally see it there, but with these little sweepers anyway that's where it goes...not only still sorta nasty by nature, but also the gritty portion of it is what makes the rug eventually wear out prematurely.
The (long) history of 'floor cleaning gadgets/machinery' is indeed fascinating...but I guess it isn't alone in that now, is it...?? <lol>
Thanks AnythingObsure waiting for those Pix
