    Now I know this is a phone but does anybody know what it might have been used for it is a very heavy not sure if it's just a public phone or if it's for electricity company or what

      Yes, some variety of 'industrial telephone' probably for use in some kind of facility like a tunnel, mine, factory, manhole, and/or someplace bordering on a 'hazardous location'. (but it doesn't necessarily look "sparkproof", though?) Depending on what sort of latch/lock holds its lid closed might suggest whether it was intended to be accessed by 'anybody in the wrong place/time', vs. 'authorized personnel only'...??

      I think that version of the Northern Telecom logo was used in the 1980's-90's or so, if not still currently...??

      Loading dock phone? Would be used to call the customer inside the building by the delivery driver??

      This phone is commonly seen outside of most Central Office locations. Ii has been called the "Explosion Telephone". Since it has a water proof shell its been used as pool phones and industrial locations more often.
