Here is an example of Art Deco Pottery that I was lucky to come across in a charity shop here in Vancouver BC. I'm very new to the art and collectibles world and am enjoying learning about my new beautiful piece. From what I've learned so far this Jug is an Art Deco piece from the Kennemer Pottery in Velsen, Netherlands. From reference to the collection at www.velsenaardewerk.nl it is model 144. The colors are absolutely gorgeous. If anyone knows more about this pottery, the artist, or where would be a good place to get this appraised I would love to hear from you. It's my first piece and i'm absolutely in love with it.

      Congratulations. A Wonderful Piece !!!
The pieces were slip cast and you will see the incised 144 reflects the 144/4 of the painted mark. I believe the 114/4 refers to the colour combo on the piece. There was also a straight 144. Both were from the same period. The 144 has a white background and elements of the design were picked out in yellow, orange, dark blue and turquoise. The handle and rim were silver grey. Your version the 144/4 haas aaa dark blue background and those same colours pick out a different look completely to the design. The designer of the mould for the 144 and many other of the company’s work was C. J. GELLINGS. A genius, in my opinion.
The same moulds were used later with a different glaze technique later in the thirties.
The other thing to note is the artist’s mark on your jug (Kan in Dutch) : A v E.
His name was A. C. van Ee who worked at the factory from 1929 to February 1931 or February 1932 according to the text I have. Anton C. van Ee.

Thank you so much for your information vetraio50! That is really helpful. It's lovely to know the age of the piece and the artist! I love that the colours are so vibrant after all of this time! I'm considering getting this appraised on Valuemystuff.com as I've received an offer from a collector in Holland who I sent a question to and want to get a second opinion before I decide whether to part with this piece. This is very exciting!
