Our local volunteer museum discovered these objects on a freight wagon and do not know what they are or what they were used for. Two have wooden handles with a wire running through and hooks on both ends. The others are short ropes with wire hooks on either end. They look like they might have been used to lift or carry some oject. It is 4" long.
One wooden one has the following printed on it: FRANCES SHOP 115 EAST FOURTH ST. - East Side WATERLOO. (Which would be Waterloo, IA)
    Any help would be appreciated.

Stores used handles( in the second picture)for customers to carry packages. Twine was wrapped around the box and tied off at the handles so you could easily carry your purchase home.

I´m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In my country since 1930 or so big shops, such as Harrod´s (yes we had our Harrod´s store), used to give this kind of handles for your packages. They tied up your packages with a string and passed the wire around the string and the wooden part was to handle it instead of carrying it from the string that would hurt your fingers.
